Our Mission

It ensures that students who will benefit from the program integrate and internalize the necessary knowledge, skills and values regarding elderly care services. In addition, it ensures that they become competent health technicians who implement and develop elderly care services in public, private and non-governmental organizations.

 

Our Vision

It trains professional staff who can provide the care and environments that elderly individuals need, contribute to developing the health standards of elderly individuals and increase their quality of life, and are qualified to implement and develop elderly care services. It also aims to raise professional people who can produce solutions, have analytical thinking skills, teamwork and a sense of responsibility.

The educational basis of the elderly care program: Knowing the basic characteristics and needs of the elderly and gaining the ability to meet the needs of the elderly accordingly, creating the ability to approach the elderly holistically.

 

Elderly Care Technician Job and Task Descriptions

According to the Regulation on Job and Job Descriptions of Health Care Professionals and Other Professionals Working in Health Services in the Official Gazette dated May 2, 2014, and numbered 29007, the Job and Job Descriptions of Elderly Care Technicians are as follows;

Elderly care technician / Home patient care technician

 

Elderly individuals and patients requiring home care;

  • Evaluates physical, spiritual and social care needs.
  • It supports the highest level of protection, maintenance and use of daily life activities.
  • Feeds according to the nutrition program recommended by the dietician, monitors weight and evaluates changes with healthcare team members.
  • Evaluates the living space regarding accident risk and safety and ensures the necessary arrangements are made.
  • Follows the medical care planned by the healthcare team, and reports the situation to the healthcare professional if a problem is detected in the implementation of medical care.
  • It helps with daily personal care, such as oral and dental care.
  • Performs personal care and cleaning practices in cases of bedridden dependency, illness or disability.
  • It helps people access health services and accompanies them when necessary.
  • Supports caring family members.
  • It protects against abuse and informs the family and relevant institutions when necessary.
  • It directs people to social activities and supports their participation.

    Employment Areas of Graduates

    Graduates of the program receive the title of "Elderly Care Technician". Graduates: Units related to the areas under the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, where elderly care services are carried out, municipalities, hospitals, nursing homes, nursing homes for the elderly, dormitories for the weak, day centres for the elderly, hospice (elderly care home cared for in the terminal period), practices for the elderly in health units, palliative care, They can work under expert supervision in places such as care units, home care services, organizing the elderly's home, and protected residences.

     

    Working Environment and Conditions

    Work environments are dynamic. Since work may be on duty during the day and/or night, there may be intense stress and physical fatigue during the work process. They always have to be careful. While working, they contact the elderly's relatives, healthcare personnel, colleagues and, when necessary, with different institutions.

     

    Professional Advancement

    Those who successfully complete the "Elderly Services Care" associate degree program can make a vertical transfer to Nutrition and Dietetics, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services undergraduate programs within the quota if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam held by ÖSYM. Those who start working as Elderly Services Care professionals can take part in management positions in the institutions and organizations they work for or open their own businesses, depending on their success. Having experience in their field and improving themselves contribute to their ability to find a job and receive good wages
